How it actually works
We build these lamps to pack a punch. By cramming high power into a quartz tube, they hit their operating temperature in a matter of seconds. This lets you tighten up your whole rhythm. If you’re running a high-volume line, you can trigger the heat the exact second the product slides into the zone and kill the power the moment it leaves. It feels a lot better knowing you aren’t just paying to heat an empty room.
The nitty-gritty on the hardware
We use quartz envelopes because they can handle the “thermal shock” of being turned on and off constantly without cracking. We also keep the connectors simple—mostly standard R7s or SK15s. You won’t need a bag of weird custom adapters to get these running. They should just slide right into most industrial jigs you’re already using. One quick tip: keep an eye on your wiring. If you’re running high wattage across a massive facility, thin cables will kill your performance. You’ll see a voltage drop, and your lamps won’t hit the temps they’re supposed to.
Finding the sweet spot
Short-wave IR is incredibly fast, but it can be a bit aggressive. If a product sits under the lamp too long, you’re going to scorch the surface. You’ll want to play around with your conveyor speed until it matches the lamp’s output. I usually suggest pairing the setup with a PID controller or a simple timer. It takes the guesswork out of it. Your product comes out steaming hot for the customer, but without those burnt edges that ruin a meal.
