
Getting the Heat Right (Without the Blinding Glare)
When we set out to build these bathroom infrared lamps, we had one big problem to solve. You want that instant, cozy warmth the second you step out of the shower, but nobody wants to be blinded by a harsh, glaring light—especially when you’re dealing with a baby. Most standard infrared tubes just blast energy into the visible spectrum. It’s too much. It’s bright, it’s aggressive, and it honestly hurts to look at. The trick to softer light To fix that, we changed how the light actually behaves. We use specific quartz glass and internal coatings that act like a filter. Think of it as blocking out the “noisy” light waves that make you squint, while letting the long-wave infrared—the stuff that actually warms your skin—pass right through. You get all the heat, but none of the blinding intensity. It feels natural. Dealing with the steam Bathrooms are tough on electronics. Between the steam and the splashes, moisture is everywhere. If a single drop of water hits the electrical contacts, the lamp shorts out or the filament just gives up. That’s why we use IP-rated seals to keep the housing airtight. We also use corrosion-resistant alloys for the terminals so they don’t rust or oxidize in a humid room. It just works, and it stays working. A quick note on the heat Here is the honest part: filtering the light does change things a bit. Because we’re blocking some of those waves, a filtered lamp might take a few extra seconds to hit its peak temperature compared to a clear halogen tube. It’s not a huge deal, but it means you can’t just guess the wattage. If you go too low, the “soft light” won’t make up for a lack of actual heat. Plus, keep an eye on where you mount it. You want the beam hitting you, not overheating your ceiling fixtures. A little bit of planning goes a long way here.
